Dr. Tang Honored with the Third Prize at the 8th Jiangsu Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
November 22, 2020
On November 22, 2020, the final round of the 8th China Jiangsu Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in Nantong Haimen. Dr. Hongming Tang, the founder and general manager of Suzhou Bapi Ma Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd., was awarded the third prize.
This Jiangsu Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious innovation and entrepreneurship events in Jiangsu Province. This year, it adopted a combination of online and offline formats, attracting more than 3,300 participants. After several rounds of selection, 120 contestants stood out and entered the final round.
The project that participated in this competition is the research and development and industrialization of superconducting magnets for large-size single-crystal silicon growth furnaces used in semiconductor integrated circuits. The main application of the products developed in this project is in single-crystal silicon growth furnaces, where they simulate a microgravity environment to suppress convection within the furnace's melt. This, in turn, improves the quality of silicon single crystals, addressing issues of impurities and poor uniformity within the crystals. It effectively solves the challenges associated with traditional Czochralski growth methods, where controlling the vortex flow in the melt, the shape of the solid-liquid interface, temperature gradient, and uniform distribution of oxygen concentration is difficult. The development and industrialization of this project's superconducting magnets can significantly promote the domestication process of large-size silicon wafers, completely resolving the bottleneck in China's semiconductor industry. It provides key core equipment for the supply of semiconductor core basic materials, achieving full autonomy in the production of large-size, high-quality silicon wafers for semiconductor integrated circuits.
